Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night

History has a lot of “people’s revolutions” that have gone terribly bad. What starts with promises of liberty too often ends with severe oppression. That was certainly the case with the French Revolution, the Bolshevik Revolution, the Spanish Civil War, Nazis in Germany, Mao in China, Castro in Cuba, Chavez in Venezuela, and the Arab Spring.

Sadly, many students of history recognize too many similarities between the mob behavior of today and those tragedies of the past. The world has paid a very high price in blood and oppression.

Think about the tactics at work today. They have all been done before and produced nothing good:

Read the list. You see all of it happening before your very eyes. So when the Customs and Border Patrol reported finding 10,800 Assault Weapons Parts in Louisville, Kentucky, you may not have been surprised. The weapons parts were shipped from Shenzhen, China, headed for a residence in Florida.

And, when you dig into the founders of BLM, you learn that these are trained Marxists, as this video from Heritage Foundation clearly shows:

It can all seem very discouraging. Didn’t we win the Cold War and beat Communism? How could we have arrived here?

Please know that this is not an accident. Marxism, supported by the Chinese Communist Party and various radicals, has infiltrated Hollywood, the media, the education system, and entered the federal government. The blatant coup attempt before President Trump even took the oath of office is clear evidence that the halls of power have been corrupted. The fact that the media has ignored the illegal activity that took place during the 2016 campaign and in the transition is proof of complicity. This is the scandal of the century and not a whiff of interest. Instead, the media focused night after night on a fake Russia collusion narrative and a doctored impeachment scandal when the actual truth is far more newsworthy for anyone willing to look.

I know people are discouraged. They have been told that their vote doesn’t count. That their voice should not be heard. That they must sit down and watch their country be so fundamentally changed that it becomes unrecognizable. People are fearful. They see a nightmare unfolding and feel helpless to do anything about it.

Do not think it strange. But this is our time to stand for liberty. President Reagan warned us:

“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”

So what do we do? General Flynn recently offered his thoughts in a Western Journal article. Here are excerpts:

“I was once told if we’re not careful, 2 percent of the passionate will control 98 percent of the indifferent 100 percent of the time.

The more I’ve thought about this phrase, the more I believe it. There is now a small group of passionate people working hard to destroy our American way of life. Treason and treachery are rampant and our rule of law and those law enforcement professionals who uphold our laws are under the gun more than at any time in our nation’s history. These passionate 2 percent appear to be winning…

I believe the attacks being presented to us today are part of a well-orchestrated and well-funded effort that uses racism as its sword to aggravate our battlefield dispositions. This weapon is used to leverage and legitimize violence and crime, not to seek or serve the truth.

The dark forces’ weapons formed against us serve one purpose: to promote radical social change through power and control. Socialism and the creation of a socialist society are their ultimate goals.

They are also intent on driving God out of our families, our schools and our courts. They are even seeking the very removal of God from our churches, essentially hoping to remove God from our everyday lives.

Remember, we will only remain united as “one nation under God.”…

To the silent and currently indifferent majority: Wake up. America is at risk of being lost in the dustbin of history to socialism. The very heart and soul of America is at stake.

In war, as in life, most failure comes from inaction. We face a pivotal moment that can change the course of history of our nation.

We the people must challenge every politician at every level.

We also must stand and support our law enforcement professionals: They are the pointy end of the spear defending us against anarchy.

Now is the time to act.”

General Flynn is 100% right. You should read the entire article because it is spot on! If any has earned the right to be weary, it would be him. And yet, he realizes the truth of Galatians 6:9 (KJV):

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

The challenge is great. It seems insurmountable, in fact. And yet, even if the odds impossible, we should never give up. Instead, we should apply truth from the poetry of Dylan Thomas:

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light
.

So how do we rage against the dying of the light? Or can we do more? For the past dozen years I have offered the same answer. It starts with 2 Chronicles 7: 14, God’s prescription of repentance for healing a nation. Then we do battle. Stand up for the Constitution, not just for yourself but for all citizens. Don’t accept the narrative, but diligently speak the truth. Defend good police. Defend our history, acknowledging the bad but proclaiming the fact that the United States of America is a force for good on the earth. And if we followed our own Constitution, we would be even better. This is a fight we can and must win!

The enemy of our faith will tell us that the young people are not on our side. But we are still here. We must not go gentle! And if we could see beyond the smoke and fog, we might just realize that there are more with us than against us.
